La Fudgerie Boutique • Les Mignardises Doucinet is Quebec City's first-ever artisanal fudge confectioner. The boutique is housed in a 300-year-old building in the historic Trait-Carré neighborhood of Quebec City (la ville de Québec), which makes it a welcome stop on a tour of the neighborhood.
A step beyond the usual tourist-town fudge shop, La Fudgerie Boutique sells over 80 mouthwatering varieties of hand-made fudge as well as handcrafted chocolate treats made with pure cocoa butter and a range of local products. The fudge has won several prestigious awards, and rightfully so: with 80 flavors to choose from, including blueberry, cranberry and chili pepper, La Fudgerie is a Québécois institution.
True to Quebec fashion, the employees of the fudgerie are also recognized for their extensive knowledge about fudge and nougats, which they will happily share (the knowledge, that is, although the fudge can be sampled as well) with customers and visitors. Their commitment to quality, variety and the local-food economy are what make La Fudgerie a unique destination worth a visit.
In the summer, the terrace of the house is home to a restaurant. The menu features sweet and savory crêpes as well as chocolatey drinks and desserts that they claim would dazzle even Chocolat’s master confectioner Vianne Rocher. You can't ask for a better recommendation than that!
